In today’s world there are many pursuits one can chase after. There are numerous options to catch our mind’s passion. Everyday people wake up to strive closer to their ultimate goal in life. Some people arise in the morning to chase money, drugs, prestige, power, or maybe a promotion. Other people have simpler aspirations of gaining good health, a happy day, watching a certain T.V. but everyone that arises every morning has something that drives them to the next day. What is your reason to wake up? Some pursuits of inherently sinful, some are simply vain, while others are small compared to the larger issues of life. One author once said that people work for three reasons: (1) Money, (2) family, (3) or to save the world. Now the pursuit that I am suggesting my not be the greatest pursuit ever but it is an important endeavor. Everyday, why don’t you work on being the best person you can possible be? You should wake up everyday with the intention to be an honest, kind, loving, and humble citizen of this world. I am positive with this intention in your heart you would have more happiness, a better family, and more friends. Essentially, this is the Bible’s command on our lives. Paul tells us to put on the fruit of the spirit and remove the works of the flesh. Look at what Paul says in Romans 13:12-14 “The night is almost gone, and the day is at hand. Let us therefore lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” In Ephesians 4:24 Paul also tells us to be constantly improving. “And put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.” There are many valid reasons to arise every morning. One of the best reasons to wake up every morning is to improve on being the best person possible.
