INTRODUCING “THE POWER OF TEN”

People overlook a significant verse in the Bible. The verse connotes the nature of God’s concern for His people. The verse is Luke 2:52, “And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” This verse indicates the holistic care of the Lord. The Lord cares about your physical self, your emotional self, your relational self, and your spiritual self. The Lord cares about man’s entire being. The Lord’s concern is not focused on just one aspect of the human experience. With this knowledge in mind, the congregation is launching “The Power of Ten.” This is a ten week series of working towards various goals. There will be ten motivational sermons directed towards encouraging everyone to accomplish these worthy pursuits. The program will last for 10 weeks, we want 100 members to commit to the program, and we are going to extend 1000 invitations. We are going to lose 1000 pounds and walk 10,000 miles. And we are going to read 100,000 scriptures of God’s Word as a congregation. Each week we will measure the progress. The slogan for this work is “A healthier me for a healthier church.” “The Power of Ten” is a great method to think about the power of God. God does not add, He does not multiply, because when God moves, untold progress can happen. Look at the growth of the early church. 3000 souls were added. “So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and there were added that day about three thousand souls” (Acts 2:41). The growth continues on a day by day increase. “Praising God, and having favor with all the people, and the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47). God’s math is different from our math. The impossible becomes the possible with the Lord’s help. This program will remind us of how great God truly is. What God can accomplish through us is beyond our comprehension. We all need to be reminded of the power of God.
