point to be at worship. Sometimes January can be a month with a major drop off in attendance. It is encouraging to see the numbers up. Not just because the numbers are high, but because this is somewhat of an indication that people are working on Christianity. On some of those cold mornings, it can be tempting to sleep in or to stay in, but we need to be committed to being here for ourselves and for one another. Hebrews 10:25 “not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.”
This Sunday the lesson is “When Dry Bones Live.” This lesson will be inspirational. Also, this coming Sunday we will start Christianity 101. This class will be taught by Jerry Duren. This class will focus on the basics of the faith. It will touch on the nature of Christ, the church, worship, and baptism. If you missed this class before, or if you started the class last time but could not maintain a presence in class, this is your opportunity to retake it. A bunch of people have already mentioned to me that they will be in the class.
This Friday night some of our young people will be attending Evangelism University. This is a great event hosted by the Savannah church of Christ. It will draw about 1200 young Christians from across the nation. I love this event because of the focus on evangelism and spiritual growth. It is not the typical youth event where the majority of the time is spent on entertaining the teens; this event is dedicated to teaching the teens to be like Christ.
I am so pleased with this congregation. We are doing a great work in this community. We must continue to make Christianity a priority. If we do, we will have another wonderfully successful year. Keep up the good work everyone.
