THREE HUGE WINS FOR THE CONGREGATION

As most people know, college football is winding down. The Tennessee Volunteers are going to the SEC Championship Game. Soon the bowl games will be played and the national champion will be crowned. Football is a sport where a win is all important. Sometimes the game does not look pretty, but by the end of the day if there is a “W” next to the game, there is reason for celebration. To prove this, just ask any of the Volunteers’ players about the Kentucky game last week. It was ugly, but it was a win.

Speaking of big wins, the Waynesboro church of Christ has won numerous battles this year. We are working hard to make a difference in the community. Some congregations are content with merely going through the motions of worship on Sunday and feeling that they have served the Lord. Plainly in scripture the Lord expects His people to be busying serving those in need throughout the week for worship to be valid (Isaiah 1:11-17). A congregation that merely worships without weekly work is a worship that is considered worthless by God.

The Waynesboro church of Christ is winning the war with Satan in this town. The first win we have is the victory in providing a Christian environment for young people to come to after school on Wednesday. A lot of these young people are staying for our Bible classes to be nourished by the Word of God. The second win was a great victory of service to those who served this nation in the armed forces. We had a wonderful celebration for the sacrifice that past and present service men and women have made on behalf of this great nation. So far we have received a few cards of thanksgiving because of this act of love. The third win that we are striving towards now is the mobile pantry. I looked on the list last night and saw a ton of names willing to serve this congregation and ultimately the Lord. This is going to be another great service to this congregation in providing for those in need. The Lord takes this seriously, and so should we.

At the Waynesboro church of Christ, we take worship seriously because we are serious about serving the Lord by serving this community. We are winning the war against Satan because we are showing our faith by our works.
