I am excited about friends and family day coming up this Sunday on October 7th. It is a great day for the congregation. There are hundreds of guests, some former members, and loving family members with us. We are going to have another amazing friends and family day this year. In fact, I would encourage everyone in the Wayne County community to be with us. It would be a great idea if some of the local congregations would send some of their members to participate in our friends and family day. This would show our loving unity to this community around us. This is one of the beautiful elements of living in Wayne County; all of the churches of Christ are unified and supportive of one another. It would be great to see some of the local congregations represented.
Greg Griggs preached last night about passion. This was a great lesson to set us up for our friends and family day. Greg talked about having passion for the things that we love. We have passion for football, families, but the number passion in life should for the church. So let’s get passionate about inviting our friends and family to our special day. We will have a huge meal to feed everyone after the Sunday morning services and then we have a special treat because we will have singing at 1:00 and the preaching will be at 1:30. I know that Barry England, our Gospel Meeting speaker will do a marvelous job.
Every gets a big “thank you.” All of the invitation cards were gone after Wednesday night. One of the elders came in Thursday morning to get a few more cards to send out, but there were none left. This is great to see everyone participating in this good work. As well as sending cards, make some personal visits and calls to some people that you would enjoy worshipping with.
One final duty for friends and family day----PRAY. We need everyone praying for the souls that are going to be with us. Let us pray for friendliness, open hearts, and great preaching. We know if we pray, the Lord will make this truly a great friends and family day.
