Waynesboro is a small town and we are a big church. Sometimes we forget that we are huge in proportion to the size of the town. We roughly make up 20% of the local population. We can have a voice, but more than a voice, we can have a positive impact on this community for Christ. Our presence can be known for good through this area. There is a great potential before us if we will only embrace this calling from God to impact this town for Christ. Instead of the local towns people asking where our building is (which they do) and instead of them wondering about what we stand for (which they do), we can establish a beacon of hope and love in this community.
The Bible declares concerning the first century church. “And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved” (Acts 2:46-47). Notice that the inspired text of Acts indicates that the local body of Christ was popular among all the people. In this community we desire to be well thought of among the entire community because of our good works. When we serve this town, this community will take notice that we are authentic in our faith.
This week we have a great class starting. We are having Christianity 201—The Life of Christ. This class will deal with the character and person of Jesus Christ. You will learn about Him and you will learn to be like Him. Everyone in the congregation would benefit for a class of this nature.
The fields are ready for a harvest. We have all the potential in the world. We can impact this community for Christ. We are not isolationists we are transformationists.
