The lessons on how this congregation can help you grow in Christ are hopefully beneficial. The first lesson on worship dealt with the need and purpose of worship. When you worship with the congregation you are praising God and edifying the people around you. This week’s lesson on Bible Study talked about the need to make being at Bible Study a priority. Christians are to grow in grace and in knowledge and Bible Study helps us to complete this goal. Next week we will study about being involved in the visitation ministry or team ministry. This ministry is to help facilitate fellowship within the congregation. The ministry helps to make friendships and relationships stronger.
Everyone needs to be marking on the calendar January 28th, because on this date we will be offering an extra service at 8:00 am. This service will have the same lesson as the 6:00 pm service. There will be singing and a lesson, but the Lord’s Supper will not be offered. We will provide this additional service for a three month trial period to see if this is something we would like to continue. So if you are an early riser, this might be a good time to worship for you.
Another important development or work that is being added is the new class called “Christianity 101.” This will be a basics class on Jesus, worship, the Lord’s Supper, baptism, the plan of salvation, and the works of this congregation. The class is for any newcomers, new converts, or anyone who believes that they would enjoy a refresher class on the basics of Christianity. Terry Bryant will start teaching the class on February 4th, and the class will last for 8 weeks. This is a great opportunity and a lot of people have already expressed an interest in attending this class. 2007 is starting off with great programs and opportunities. This congregation truly desires to help you grow in Christ as well as grow in peace and in happiness in the coming year.
