WRAPPING UP 2006

A couple weeks ago, I asked if James Allen dipped into the preacher’s bonus money since he was holding the envelope. He assured me that he did not. After I arrived home and counted the amount of money that was in the enveloped, the next service I told James Allen that if he did do a little dipping that it was acceptable because of the tremendous amount given. There was plenty for the both of us. Needless to say, I was impressed, grateful, and humbled by the holiday bonus from the congregation. Thank you for your support and gift. Your gift made me feel appreciated and accepted in the congregation.

2006 was another great year for the Waynesboro congregation. Recently, Ben Gallian informed me that we averaged 170 on Sunday morning for the year. Personally, I was unsure if we would hit that target because of some early numbers in February when there were some snow storms. But I was impressed and delighted to see that we averaged 170 for the year. We need to do whatever we can to continue in this range for the coming year. Also, I appreciate Ben keeping up with our attendance average. This is a helpful tool in ascertaining how effective we are being in evangelism.

Also, last week we had a special contribution. Once again I was highly impressed with the sacrifice and commitment of this congregation. We raised almost 17,000 dollars in one week. Overall, for the year we will come out with a surplus of approximately 6000 to 7000 dollars. Most congregations are struggling to meet their particular budget, but at Waynesboro we are growing and developing strongly as a congregation.

Personally, I see 2007 as another year of growth for the congregation. People are committed, we have congregational peace, we have great leadership, we have wonderful workers, and everything is in place for continued work in fulfilling the purposes of God for this Body of Believers
