HOSPITALITY

This weekend I am heading to the Lay's Family farm for a cookout. Veron And Linda have a beautiful plot of land which showcases gorgeous Wayne County. Though the land is spectacular to view, the major reason I am looking forward to going is the great hospitality. Everyone on Team 5 for the team ministry is invited to this fellowship. In fact, Vernon and Linda hosted Charity and I on our first visit to Wayne County. On that afternoon we had a superb meal and great company.

Hospitality is an important Christian virtue. There is even a saying that complements the Southern way of life. Most people have heard of "Southern Hospitality." Unfortunately, hospitality is still a virtue.

In Gallatin, Tennessee another family is known for hospitality. Gilbert and Sandra Cooper are masters at opening their home to others. In fact when I was a intern at Hartsville Pike, this family hosted me for the summer and even allowed me to stay again for the next summer until I was married. This family was great to me. In their home I was treated like a king. Moreover, this family was not just good to me but they hosted numerous youth events and other social gatherings in their home. Gilbert always lived by this saying "God has blessed Sandra and me with a beautiful place and we want to use this blessing for the glory of God." This is a wonderful attitude to have.

Hebrew's 13:2 has an encouraging verse for all of us on hospitality. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."
