Every production on Broadway has a huge technical crew working the lights and the sounds. There are numerous people responsible for setting up the sets and tearing them down. There is a large orchestra playing live music for the show. But most people only see the actors and actresses playing the various parts. With every Broadway show, there are the seen elements and the hidden elements. If one is not careful, one can think that the actors and actresses have run the whole show from start to finish.

Recently, I was reminded of all the great behind the scenes work that is done at the Waynesboro church of Christ. One of the elders and I was visiting with one of the families in the congregation. We arrived and were cordially invited in. The family was just finishing supper and I noticed a tasty looking pie on the table. I asked if the husband made the pie and he responded that one of the members of the congregation made it them. He then processed to tell me of other people who have delivered food. This was a pleasant reminder of all the work that takes place in the church that know one ever sees, hears, or knows about. People just serve the Lord behind the scenes.

Sometimes people will look at the congregation and state that nothing is happening. But these people do not know about all the hidden work that members are doing. Most people in the congregation do not prefer to call attention to their acts of service and love. These people are the backbone of the congregation. They are the ones who are the true heroes in the congregation.

A special thank you goes to all our unsung heroes in the congregation. We might not know all that you do, but we know that your love runs through this congregation. We appreciate your humble service to this church. You are a inspiration to me.
