Get to know the Ministers of our Church!
Matthew is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. He has a beautiful wife named Charity and a precious baby named Gabrielle. He has graduated from the Brown Trail School of Preaching, Heritage Christian University with his Bachelors of Arts in Biblical Studies and Lipscomb University with his Master’s of Arts in Biblical Studies. Presently, he is working towards his Master’s of Divinity at Freed-Hardeman University. His articles have appealed in the World Evangelist, the Highway to Holiness, The West Virginia Christian, The Christian Echo, The Firm Foundation, Church Growth, and the Gospel Advocate.
Matthew has served as an Associate Minister for the Granbury Street Church of Christ, a Youth Minister for the Nueces Canyon Church of Christ, and a Part-Time Pulpit Minister for the Cool Springs Church of Christ, and a “minister in training” for the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ.
He enjoys hockey, golf, boxing, and chess. In his spare time he enjoys reading numerous genres of books.
Matthew serves the Waynesboro Church Of Christ by preaching two sermons and two Bible classes a week. He also is active in Hospital and house visitation as well as conducting home Bible studies. He writes a weekly article and helps editor the weekly bulletin. Matthew is also involved with the youth program and attends some of the High School sporting activities. He is a member of the local Rotary Club.
Mitchell was born and raised in Waynesboro as well as his beautiful wife, Sheryl. Mitchell and Sheryl have three children, Reagan, John Austin, and Chloe. Mitchell is a graduate of David Lipscomb University (1992) and is just a few hours shy of his degree in Ministry from Heritage Christian University. Mitchell was a weekly contributor to Forthright Magazine and was co-author of the book, "Straight to the Cross." He has also been published in "Bulletin Gold" and has been a featured contributor on SermonCentral.com. Mitchell also has several sermons on SermonCentral that have been chosen as featured sermons of the week. He aslo writes regularly for his own blog, "The Mind of Mitchell," which can be read at MitchellSkelton.blogspot.com
Mitchell served as the pulpit minister for Midway church of Christ in Lawrenceburg, TN for over four years until August 2007 when he became the Family Life Minister here in Waynesboro. The position of Family Life Minister is a new one for Waynesboro and Mitchell was hired to build this ministry from the ground up. Mitchell is also the owner of Subway Sandwiches and Salads in Waynesboro as well as the General Manager of Little Star Market.
Mitchell oversees an exciting and inovative after-school program called CSI: Waynesboro and is constantly striving to find ways to strengthen marriages and families. Mitchell also teaches bible classes, leads singing, and conducts home bible studies.
